Games in
Education
The value of computer games in education has
been a much debated subject. More and more key
education bodies and educators are starting to
recognise the value of computer games as an
educational tool. Here at Central Enfield CLC
we have been using a variety of software with
both primary and secondary school students to
explore the potential of games making within
the curriculum.
As an accredited Immersive Education training centre, we have been involved with Mission Maker software since the trial stages. This powerful piece of games making software allows students to develop complex 3d worlds filled with characters to interact with and puzzles to solve. A recently released player allows students to then play their games at home or at school, or let friends download and play them. The complex visual literacy and problem solving skills that students need to develop in order to build games that function properly challenge even the most able of students.
