Over the last 3 years, we have worked with a wide variety of schools to support them in their use of ICT within Design and Technology. Students have been given a variety of opportunities to use computer aided design packages and manufacturing equipment. (CAD-CAM).
Using software such as 2D Design or Prodesktop, students have designed a wide variety of objects from clock faces and scale  models, to keyrings and name tags. These designs can then be cut out using our router or laser cutter.
We have recently purchased embroidery machines which allows students to create designs that can be embroidered onto hats, t-shirts and other textiles - ideal for GCSE textiles work!
New for this year, we have also purchased dye sublimation equipment. Dye sublimation is a new Industry process allowing you to print on any material containing polyester. Students can design and print a huge variety of items including mugs, pencil tins, mouse mats, to shirts etc.
We also provide teacher training in all aspects of CAD-CAM, from using design software such as 2D Design or Prodesktop to making use of CAM equipment in the classroom.
Much of our design and technology equipment can be borrowed for use in school after the relevant health and safety training.
